The Founder's Spotlight

An Evangelist of Preparedness with more than three (3) decades of professional and lived experience, certified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency [FEMA], the Community Emergency Response Team [CERT], community organizer, activist, and outreach specialist. I'm an Emergency Preparedness trainer and developer of the High Alert Emergency Preparedness (HAER Prep) webinar series concentrating on small businesses, non-profits, community members, specialty senior citizens facilities, and Public Housing residents in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. I have also volunteered with Generosity Feeds on the Food Package Assembly Team, volunteered and advocated with DC Families for Safe Streets, the Cancel Rent Coalition, One DC, Brookland Manor Coalition, Parcel 42, the Woodner, and Empower DC. I'm the two (2) term Resident Council President for Park Morton Public Housing.

Generosity Feeds

We worked together as a team to pack 10,000 meals for hungry families in the DMV.

The voices of the people still need to be heard although the Coronavirus Pandemic had ensued. I organized a COVID-19 safe protest. Social Distancing & masking were required. I'm proud to say that not a single person that attended the Park Morton protests of 2020, did not catch nor spread COVID-19.

THE DMV IS PRONE TO FLOODING.

Heavy rains from tropical storms, hurricanes, thunderstorms, & melting snow & ice oftentimes hit the DC, MD, & VA areas. When that happens we experience overflows in the rivers, pools, ponds, backups in drainage, & other waterways that cause flooding. This is just 1 of the many natural disasters to prepare for.

Being prepared is vital to having security and peace of mind in an emergency. I've educated the public about this in both pre-pandemic in-person seminars, during the pandemic with online webinars, and post-pandemic with small cohort groups.

I'm leading an Emergency Preparedness seminar at Potomac Gardens in 2017.

Potomac Gardens former President and former DCHA Commissioner Aquarius Vann-Gharsi.

During the height of the Coronavirus pandemic, I fed my Park Morton community and gave them supplies by working with other community members.

My neighbors were grateful when they came to get their supplies. I kept social distance by distributing supplies from the Resident Council Office balcony.

These photos were taken by me with my cellphone. I went out purposely to take these photographs as an example as to what happens to people who wait too late to prepare or do not prepare at all. You're left with scraps or nothing at all.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic Begins

At the start of the Coronavirus Pandemic, citizens started panic buying.

Scarcely There Shelves In Stores

Grocery stores everywhere struggled to keep up with the demand for food during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Bare Shelves In Other Stores

Shelving in many stores were wiped clean with nothing to spare.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Brown!

I had the honor of officiating the elopement of my children's grandparents. This is a beloved memory that I will always cherish. RIP to my children's Grandpop, Mr. Herbert Brown.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Loar!

This couple had a small, intimate, in-person wedding; however, we established an online ceremony to allow family members and friends who could not be there in person to have a chance to partake in the ceremony.

An Only Son Escorts His Mother Down The Aisle.

The Bride-to-Be, the Future Mrs. Beynum.

The Newlyweds!

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Beynum!

This wedding was very special as the Bride's only son presented his mother to her groom.

Holidays are an excellent time for weddings, elopements, affirmation, and commitment ceremonies. Many people favor Labor Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Veteran's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, and Valentine's Day as the most popular.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Jackson!

Enter the Bride & Groom.

The Bride Blesses Their Union.

All Smiles.

And It Is Done.

Sometimes tragedy strikes when we least expect it. HAER Prep is prepared to wed couples even in emergency situations.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Smith-Havard!

This young couple got engaged in 2023 with the hopes of having a traditional wedding with the father of the bride walking his only daughter down the aisle. Tragedy struck this couple suddenly when her father suddenly became gravely ill. This couple traveled a great distance to brave their emotions to affirm their love in the presence of her ailing father so that he would have a lasting memory of joy to take with him as well as having the assurance that his only daughter has a family of her own before departing. I was more than honored to assist with these nuptials as this was personal for me. The father of the bride was my lifelong best friend, Mr. Robert E. Hall, II.  May his soul rest peacefully.

Congratulations to this couple on their marital journey and I am deeply sorry for your loss. 🪻🪷💐
